Partnerships

We are in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Education, the Western Cape Education Department and the Limpopo Department of Education. They have shown their support for the TEACH South Africa concept by agreeing to pay the salaries of TEACH Ambassadors who will be teaching at schools in their districts.

Government

The Department of Basic Education is committed to ensuring greater educational quality and accountability by focusing on previously disadvantaged rural and urban communities. Learners in these communities are faced with numerous barriers, including the limited capacity of schools to implement the National Schools Curriculum, ineffective teaching and limited learning resources.

It is for these reasons that the Department of Basic Education has prioritised the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning, to ensure that learners in rural areas and township schools have access to key subjects such as Maths, Science, Technology and English. The government recognises that its priorities cannot be addressed without the involvement of the community, stakeholders, non-governmental organisations and the private sector. It is against this background that the founders of TEACH South Africa have responded to the government’s call to become partners in this process by forming TEACH South Africa.

Future Planning

In addition to technical training, related specifically to enhancing their teaching skills, each TEACH Ambassador is expected to identify a need in their school community and develop a project plan to address this need. The ongoing support team helps the TEACH Ambassadors as they implement their plans to bring lasting change to the schools where they work
